Drinkology at London Cocktail Week

Last week was London Cocktail Week, a coming together of some of the world’s best bartenders, brands and – of course – cocktails in celebration of the age old art of mixology and drink preparation.

Rabbit was in attendance with our client Drinkology, an online hub created by Pernod-Ricard for all those who work in the bar and drinks industry to swap recipes, learn about the history of their trade, talk to world renowned experts and advertise or apply for jobs.

The Drinkology event was held at the gorgeous Shoreditch Studios, an exhibition space in North London that – thanks to an amazing events team – was to change theme and décor every day to fit the style of a Pernod-Ricard brand.

From the warm oranges of Havana Club to the lavish luxury of Chivas Regal via an amazing transatlantic themed Absolut evening, the Studios were impressive in every sense throughout the week.

As well as having master bartenders on hand to mix amazing (and moreish) cocktails, Drinkology hosted a number of highly informative seminars on a plethora of drink-related subjects across the week.

The Rabbits were there to document the whole event; from running the social feeds to photographing the lavish environment, along with a few other bits and bobs that we contributed to help make the week go with a bang.  This included:

Training

One of the biggest assets the Drinkology website has is the regular contributions and interactions from the Drinkology Gurus. The Gurus are a handful of the most respected figures in the industry, and Rabbit was on hand to train them on how to use social media to help increase their exposure online.

We even hosted live Twitter Q&As giving followers the chance to put their questions to industry icons such as Gary Regan and Geraldine Coates.

Reporting

One of our main tasks through the week was to document the entire event on Facebook and Twitter with regular updates, seminar schedules, pictures and anything else of note.

We were delighted with the level of engagement we experienced through these channels – it’s always a pleasure to interact with an enthusiastic and dedicated community. We generated a huge amount of content over the week, sending out nearly 200 Tweets across the five days.

Filming and Photography

Throughout the week, we filmed and photographed every event, from a series of interviews with prolific members of the industry, to brand ambassadors making over 30 different cocktails and the general hubbub that filled Drinkology Studios each day.

We were also thrilled to cover Legends Bartender Mastermind, a drink-specific homage to the classic quiz show. We’ve made a few fantastic videos (working with the guys at Overthrow Films), and our snaps are available on Flickr. We hope you like them!

Everywhere we went we were amazed by the warmth and friendliness of those in attendance and we’d absolutely love to be invited back next year. However, we never, ever want to drink a Pickleback (shot of whisky, shot of

juice from a pickle jar) again.
